Switchfoot New braunfels Concert reviews
A Most Amazing Show!!
I had never seen Queen prior, with Freddie Mercury other than through documentaries or videos. I will say, however, that with Brian May and Roger Taylor and the other band members providing that true, exact "Queen" sound, Switchfoot was a master showman--as good as any could expect to fill the Freddie void, if you will.
The band really, really seemed very appreciative of the crowd's support and the format of the show was so incredibly unique! The instrumental interlude with Brian May playing a very extended piece, accompanied by mood lighting, lasers, et.al., made it seem very spacey and ethereal. It immediately reminded me of Pink Floyd shows I've seen in the past! The lights, smoke, videos, et.al.--trademarks of past Queen shows was spot-on fantastic!
I really liked the fact that Adam, Brian and Roger all took turns throughout the evening talking to the crowd, getting us involved in different songs, just plain making it a very intimate show in a larger arena setting! The show itself was so different from what I imagined it would be--it was NOT your run-of-the-mill, play-the-greatest-hits-and-get-off-the-stage type of show.
The way they all came out to the mini-stage in the midst of the main floor crowd, and the variety of instruments they played and the songs sung was incredible! All in all, a fantastic night and a remarkable performance put on by true musicians! I honestly can say that while I knew of Adam Lambert, I had never seen or heard him perform before, live or on television, but that guy can sing! What a great voice! I'm sure if Freddie could have heard Adam, he would have nodded in approval!
Go see this show! You will be so happy you did! I would go again tomorrow if I could!
